Ukrainian PM Swiridenko Meets Macron to Discuss Energy

During her working visit to Paris, Prime Minister Yulia Swiridenko held significant talks with President Emmanuel Macron, focusing mainly on energy issues impacting both Ukraine and France. The discussions centered on Ukraine's strategic energy planning and the enhancement of resilience across regions, following the recent challenges faced from Russian attacks.

Swiridenko emphasized the government's work on the strategic restructuring of Ukraine's energy sector, which includes plans to boost the capacity for energy sustainability in collaboration with local communities and regions. Swiridenko detailed the plan's components, including the development of cogeneration facilities aimed at improving energy efficiency and reliability.

Both leaders agreed to establish a joint expert group that will include France's designated representative for Ukraine's reconstruction. This group aims to develop distributed generation facilities, potentially engaging the private sector to support these initiatives effectively.

In a separate discussion, Swiridenko updated her French counterpart on the repercussions of the recent Russian assaults on critical infrastructure, including the Druzhba oil pipeline. This attack highlights the vulnerabilities in Ukraine's energy network, with ongoing efforts to recover approximately 4 GW of generation capacity that has been disrupted.

Ukraine is also set to implement a new security architecture for its energy infrastructure, aimed at enhancing its resilience against future threats.
