Ukrainian engineering groups have systematically surveyed commissioned power stations across Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Austria, and Croatia, according to Denis Shmyhal, the first deputy prime minister and minister of energy. The assessments aim to identify equipment that Ukrainian energy companies can utilize for repairs before the next heating season.

Shmyhal announced the findings in a Telegram update, noting that specific equipment from the Riga Thermal Power Plant has garnered interest from Ukrainian firms. These initiatives reflect Ukraine's ongoing efforts to rebuild its energy infrastructure, which has suffered extensive damage due to the ongoing conflict.

The Ukrainian government is targeting the restoration of 4 gigawatts of power generation capacity compromised by Russian attacks before the onset of the next heating season. Alongside this goal, officials are working to establish a reserve of repair equipment that will be three times the volume of what has been lost due to hostilities.

This strategic approach is designed to bolster the country's energy resilience in the face of persistent threats. The provision of necessary equipment from EU countries is a critical component of Ukraine's energy recovery strategy.

By engaging with EU nations to secure resources, Ukraine aims to enhance its operational capabilities and ensure continuous energy supply amid challenging circumstances. These efforts underscore the importance of international cooperation in addressing energy security concerns.

Moving forward, the situation will require diligent monitoring as Ukraine seeks to navigate its energy recovery journey. The collaborative initiatives with various countries illustrate a proactive stance in mitigating the adverse effects of the conflict and rebuilding essential infrastructure.
