Russian Attack on Kyiv Region Causes Casualties and Damage

What Happened

A massive attack by Russian forces targeted the Kyiv region on May 24, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to eleven others. According to Mykola Kalashnyk, the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the assault damaged 110 facilities throughout the region. The attack involved drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, striking civilian infrastructure and residential areas.

Kalashnyk visited affected areas, particularly the Vyshhorod district, where he reported that a residential building was severely damaged. Notably, a wall of a children's bedroom was destroyed by a drone strike.

One family, already displaced from their home in 2014 due to the conflict, is now homeless again as a result of this latest attack. In the Bucha district, residential buildings and warehouses were damaged, leading to one death and one injury.

The Fastiv district also faced destruction, where six individuals sustained injuries due to the attacks on private homes, apartments, and local medical facilities. In the Obukhiv district, one person was killed and two others, including a child, were injured.

Other districts such as Bila Tserkva, Brovary, and Boryspil experienced similar damage, with utility workers and emergency services responding to the crisis. As per the information provided by Kalashnyk, the casualties included a child under one year old and a 99-year-old victim, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the attacks on civilians.

The scale of the destruction across 110 sites has prompted continued efforts from local authorities and emergency personnel.
