Ukrenergo announced that from 17:00 on March 13, hourly power outages will be enacted across all regions of Ukraine for household consumers, while industrial users will face capacity restrictions. These outages will last until 22:00 for households and until 23:00 for industrial sectors.

This measure is reportedly a response to the ongoing strain on the energy system due to the aftermath of recent Russian missile and drone attacks targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure. According to the announcement, the situation within the energy system remains dynamic, and adjustments to the schedules of these outages may be necessary as conditions evolve.
The company urged consumers to stay informed about the timing and extent of power restrictions through official channels of local energy distribution companies. This is not the first time such power cuts have been necessary, as Ukraine's energy facilities have faced ongoing attacks, causing widespread disruptions in electricity supply, particularly affecting regions like Zaporizhia and Kharkiv, which have recently experienced significant outages due to military actions.
As the Ukrainian government works to stabilize energy production and distribution, setbacks from these attacks could further complicate recovery efforts. The extensive use of power rationing reflects not only immediate operational needs but also broader vulnerabilities in Ukrainian infrastructure in light of the ongoing conflict.
Residents are advised to prepare accordingly, ensuring they have essential supplies during periods of planned outages. The challenges faced by Ukraine's energy sector underscore the resilience required by the population in times of crisis.
As officials continue to assess damage and restore services, the necessity of these outages during particularly high-demand periods illustrates ongoing risks associated with the war’s toll on the nation’s infrastructure.
