The Armed Forces of Ukraine assert that both Platonivka and Minkivka remain secure under their control, countering claims of a Russian capture. Major Hryhorii Shapoval, spokesperson for the military’s Operation Task Force "East," stated that these settlements and their access points are firmly held by Ukrainian troops.
"Information about the alleged capture of Platonivka by the enemy is not true," Shapoval emphasized. In the past day, Ukrainian forces repelled numerous assaults from Russian troops, thwarting seven attacks in the Sloviansk sector and three in Kramatorsk.
The operational situation remains challenging in several areas, including Riznykivka, Zakytne, Fedorivka Druha, Platonivka, Minkivka, and Zaliznianske, where Russian forces continue to attempt advancements. Shapoval remarked that the enemy is deploying additional reserves in their efforts but is facing significant losses.
Despite these pressures, Operation Task Force "East" has successfully maintained its defensive positions, attributed to effective reconnaissance and coordination. Ukrainian intelligence is continuously monitoring enemy movements, ensuring that attempts at advancements are met with swift fire strikes designed to incapacitate Russian units.
Shapoval also reported that over the previous 24 hours, more than 180 enemy troops were eliminated, with nearly 140 others wounded, alongside substantial losses of weapons and equipment. The continued control of Platonivka and Minkivka is critical for Ukraine's military strategy in the region.
Ongoing tensions and hostilities underline the necessity for strong defensive measures, especially as Russian forces persist in trying to expand their influence. The success of Ukrainian Defense Forces in this area reflects broader operational strategies in repelling enemy advances across multiple fronts, showcasing both their resilience and tactical capabilities.
Reports of Russian forces advancing in nearby regions such as Vovchansk and Synkivka have been deemed inaccurate, according to military assessments, reinforcing the need for reliable information amid the fog of war.
