During a recent briefing, President Volodymyr Zelensky shared intelligence updates indicating that Russia intends to enhance its military capabilities by deploying additional ground control stations for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) both in temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine and in Belarus. In his address, Zelensky mentioned that there will be four such stations established on Belarusian territory.

This move is seen as a direct escalation in the ongoing conflict and raises concerns over the potential increase in drone attacks targeting Ukrainian regions. Zelensky's comments were based on intelligence reports provided by Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Oleksandr Ivashchenko.

The president emphasized the commitment of Ukraine’s defense forces to respond appropriately to any escalating threats arising from this deployment. The ground control stations will enable Russian operators to gain better control over UAVs, enhancing their operational reach and effectiveness against Ukrainian targets.

The president recalled previous instances where similar ground control systems were operational in Belarus, facilitating the coordination of strikes against Ukraine. Ukrainian forces have reported the destruction of some signaling equipment used by Russian drones, showcasing efforts to counter these threats.

However, the introduction of additional control stations could complicate these defense operations, mandating a reevaluation of strategies to mitigate drone warfare. The ministry confirmed that Russia uses these stations to manage drone flights remotely, allowing for real-time adjustments in navigation and strategy.

This infrastructure supports enhanced communication between operators and drones, significantly increasing the assault capabilities on Ukrainian territory. Reports indicate that the equipment used for these stations includes advanced linking technology enabling better coordination of aerial strikes.

As the war persists, the development of additional drone command stations is expected to escalate tensions further, impacting the overall security situation in the region. Zelensky instructed Ivashchenko to keep international partners and the media informed about relevant intelligence and military developments to foster collaborative responses to the evolving threats from Russia.
