SBU Detains Builder in Irpin for Registering Starlink Terminals

The builder, motivated by promises of easy earnings, initially registered one terminal in his name and subsequently provided the details to a Russian handler. Investigations revealed that he later registered two additional terminals under the names of a colleague and the colleague's spouse.

Plans were in place for the builder to involve up to 20 acquaintances for verification purposes of further terminals. SBU operatives intercepted the individual at a construction site in Irpin.

During searches conducted at his residence, several smartphones were discovered, which he utilized to communicate with Russian operatives and recruit others for the registration of Starlink devices. The builder had reportedly caught the attention of Russian agents while seeking quick financial returns on Telegram channels.

Following the investigation, the SBU informed him of his suspicion under Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to state treason during a state of war. He remains in custody without the option for bail and faces a potential life sentence along with asset confiscation.
