Russian forces initiated 52 attacks on Ukrainian positions since the beginning of the day, with a notable increase in activity reported along the Pokrovsk front. This assessment was provided by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an update released on social media at 16:00 on May 24, 2026.

Reports indicate significant artillery fire targeting border areas, including the settlements of Ryzhivka, Korenyok, Sopych, Ulany, Yastrubshchyna, Novovasylivka, Rohezne, Tovstodubove, Wolfine, and Neskuchne in the Sumy region. Additionally, air strikes were executed near Shostka and Bachiivka in Sumy.

On the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, a combat engagement occurred, wherein Russian forces utilized six guided aerial bombs and conducted 23 attacks on various locales, targeting the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. In the Southern Slobozhansky region, one clash was reported around Fyholivka, while Russian units have not initiated offensive operations in the Kupiansk, Orikhiv, and Dnipro directions.

Within the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven assaults in the areas of Drobysheve, Dibrivka, Yampol, and Lyman, with two clashes ongoing. Defensive efforts on the Sloviansk direction saw Ukrainian forces successfully counter four attempts by Russian troops to advance near Zakitne and Rai-Oleksandrivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, one attack is ongoing near Nykyforivka, while the Russian army has made seven attempts close to Pleshchiyivka, Ivanopillya, Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Rysyno Yar in the Kostiantynivka area. The Pokrovsk direction marks the most intense activity, with 24 attempts by Russian forces to dislodge Ukrainian positions around Toretske, Novooleksandrivka, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Udalne, and Molodetske.

Russian incursions were also reported at the Olexandrivsky direction near Ternove, while significant defensive operations resulted in Ukrainian forces repelling seven Russian attacks in the Huliaipil area near Pryliuk and Zaliznychnyi, defending against advances towards Hirki, Novyi Zaporizhzhia, and Staroukrainske. Overall, no significant changes occurred along other front lines, with Russian forces refraining from offensive movements.
