Zelenskyy Reports Massive Drone Attacks on Ukraine

In a significant escalation, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Russian forces executed large-scale drone strikes across Ukraine on March 24, targeting various regions. The attacks, which lasted throughout the day and night, involved more than 550 drones, predominantly of the Shahed type, as well as missiles.

Zelenskyy emphasized that despite the defense forces successfully intercepting a majority of the drones, there were still notable impacts in cities like Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and others. Tragically, there have been reports of casualties, with over 40 individuals injured, including five children.

Emergency services are providing necessary assistance to the victims. Zelenskyy elaborated on the strategic intent behind these attacks, stating that Russia's primary targets included critical infrastructure, particularly energy facilities.

Andrew in Lviv. The church, dating back to the early 17th century, suffered from a fire caused by missile strikes, which Zelenskyy condemned as an affront to Ukrainian heritage.

Mocking the absurdity of targeting such cultural sites, Zelenskyy remarked on the involvement of Iranian-made Shahed drones, suggesting that such actions reflect an inherent depravity in the choices made by Russian leadership. The president reiterated the permanent threat of Russian aggression, highlighting that the scale of the attack signifies a persistent unwillingness on the part of Moscow to consider peace.

He called for increased international pressure on Russia, arguing that without substantial action, the Kremlin will not have reason to rethink its war strategy. The message is clear: only through sustained military and diplomatic pressure can a resolution be sought that favors Ukraine's sovereignty.

In the wake of these attacks, the Ukrainian Air Force reported a successful interception of the majority of airborne threats, having neutralized 541 drones of the total deployed.
