In a recent interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria, President Volodymyr Zelensky articulated concerns regarding the shifting focus of American attention towards the Middle East, specifically in relation to ongoing conflicts involving Iran. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine does not wish to lose American support, particularly as the U.S.

is increasingly preoccupied with military operations and humanitarian efforts in that region. He stated, 'We would very much not want the United States to turn away from the issue of Ukraine due to the Middle East.' This statement underscores the high stakes involved in foreign military engagement and the potential implications for Ukraine’s defense requirements.

Zelensky highlighted the risks of possible delays in the supply of critical military equipment from the U.S. He remarked on the extensive ammunition expenditures incurred by the United States in their conflict with Iranian forces, noting the potential for these actions to affect the timely delivery of armaments needed by Ukraine.

'In my opinion, the risk is very high,' he asserted. This perspective reflects the urgent need for Ukraine to maintain a steady flow of defense resources as it continues to confront ongoing military challenges posed by Russia.

He revealed that three significant groups led by Rustem Umerov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, are actively providing consultation in the region. Zelensky mentioned that the U.S.

has sought Ukraine’s assistance several times, initiating discussions regarding support and cooperation to protect civilians and military installations. He elaborated on Ukraine’s technological capabilities in drone warfare and electronic warfare, offering to share advancements with the U.S.

Such collaboration could enhance both Ukraine's and its partners' defensive strategies. Zelensky indicated that he has previously spoken with U.S.

President Donald Trump about possible collaborative initiatives, which may involve numerous American and Ukrainian firms collaborating on interceptor technologies. 'We have not yet received a clear response,' he noted regarding this proposal.

While the conflict in the Middle East persists, Zelensky asserted that Ukraine is actively seeking alternative partners for strengthening its air defense systems. He referred to the SAMP/T air defense system as currently the only viable alternative available in Europe.

Zelensky expressed hope that advancements in the SAMP/T systems could meet the challenges of intercepting ballistic missiles, signaling a potential long-term support mechanism if successful. The President's commentary comes amidst reports of Ukraine successfully disrupting a major Russian offensive operation planned for late last year.

These developments illustrate the continuing volatility of the geopolitical landscape, placing Ukraine's struggles and its quest for international support at the forefront of ongoing global conflicts.
