During a briefing on March 22, President Zelensky reported outcomes from meetings in the United States, highlighting discussions centered on possible future exchanges between Ukraine and Russia. The Ukrainian delegation, led by Oleksiy Danilov, met with U.S.
officials including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner over the past few days. Zelensky stated, "I expect that after our negotiation group's return to Ukraine, we will discuss all aspects of the meetings, which cannot yet be reliably discussed through secure channels." Zelensky expressed cautious optimism regarding the prospect of these exchanges, viewing them as positive developments for diplomatic relations.
He emphasized that, while the focus of U.S. attention remains on broader geopolitical issues such as Iran, the resolution of the conflict with Russia is imperative.
He noted that the international community is unified in seeking an end to the war, reinforcing the need for comprehensive security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe. The President reiterated the importance of not allowing the aggressor to benefit from the ongoing conflict and highlighted that the overall situation remains ambiguous, pointing to a lack of initiative from Russian President Vladimir Putin to conclude the war.
Zelensky stated, "It's clear that the world desires peace, and we must collectively do everything within our power to achieve it." Ukrainian officials remain engaged in talks about future strategies to bring about a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. Zelensky's comments come as both nations continue to navigate the complexities of the war while seeking avenues for dialogue and cooperation.
