Ukrainian Man Extradited from Poland for Alleged Murders
A 41-year-old man from Kherson has been extradited from Poland, facing charges for the alleged murder of a 7-year-old girl and her mother. The crimes reportedly occurred in July 2022 during the Russian occupation of Kherson.

The extradition was confirmed by Ukraine's Prosecutor General Ruslan Krawchenko, who announced the development on social media. According to reports, the accused had fled Ukraine following the heinous acts, which took place when the family returned to visit the woman's ex-husband, seeking safety amidst the conflict.
Instead, the mother and daughter became victims of a violent crime that shocked the local community. Forensic examinations have corroborated that the girl was sexually assaulted before her death.
In March 2025, Ukrainian authorities notified the suspect that he was under investigation for the murder of two individuals and for the sexual assault of a minor. The individual was then placed on an international wanted list.
Through cooperative efforts with international partners, he was apprehended in Poland, where a local court determined he should remain in custody pending legal proceedings. Krawchenko also noted that this particular extradition marks the third such operation this year, following similar cases where individuals were returned to Ukraine from Belgium, Germany, and now Poland.
These extraditions reflect Ukraine's commitment to fulfilling its international obligations to bring criminals to justice and collaborate with foreign law enforcement agencies. The prosecutor underscored that Ukraine is actively pursuing extraditions of individuals wanted for various crimes committed both domestically and internationally.
In fact, earlier this year, another case involved a man extradited from Germany, who was sentenced to six years for drug trafficking. The return of this alleged murderer is significant as it underlines Ukraine's ongoing efforts to confront serious crimes and restore justice, particularly involving tragedies that affect vulnerable populations such as children.
The legal proceedings ahead may provide further insight into the grim circumstances surrounding the case and the broader implications for public safety in Ukraine during times of conflict.
