The Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense unveiled an interactive 3D model and detailed data on 79 manufacturers involved in producing key systems and components of the Russian Su-34 aircraft. This disclosure occurred on the War&Sanctions portal, indicating a strategic effort to undermine the operational capabilities of Russian military aviation.
The Su-34, known for its versatile strike capabilities, deploys guided aviation bombs critical for targeting ground positions at both tactical and operational depths. According to the information provided, nearly a third of these manufacturers are not subjected to sanctions imposed by any of the coalition countries, allowing them continued access to vital foreign components and technologies crucial for sustaining Su-34 production.
Prominent firms identified include JSC Navigator, known for its onboard navigation systems, and JSC Kotlin-Novator, which handles repairs for the aircraft’s radar systems. Additionally, LLC TD Corporation VSMPO-Avisma provides titanium alloy products, and JSC OKB Zenit manufactures essential on-board power systems for the Su-34.
This initiative by the HUR aims to systematically gather and disseminate information regarding the resources utilized by Russia in its military operations. The intelligence agency emphasizes the goal of limiting the enemy's military capacity by hindering their access to necessary technologies, especially as the conflict endures.
Earlier this year, HUR released data on 19 Russian companies involved in the production of reconnaissance drones and 30 foreign components associated with Iranian-made Shahed-107 and Russian Phoenix unmanned aerial vehicles. Through these initiatives, Ukraine seeks to illuminate the supply chains supporting Russia's military operations.
As the conflict progresses, the impact of such disclosures may play a critical role in shaping ongoing sanctions and military strategies against Russia. By keeping track of manufacturers that elude current sanctions, Ukraine aims to inform international allies about potential vulnerabilities in Russia's military supply chains.
