What Happened

Ukrainian forces conducted strikes on multiple Russian military facilities during the night of April 18-19, 2023. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that a key plant within Russia's military-industrial complex, Atlant Aero, located in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, was targeted.

Following the attack, a fire broke out at the site, which is known for producing critical components related to UAVs, specifically the Molniya and Orion drone systems.

Key Details

The Atlant Aero facility is integral to the production of Molniya strike-reconnaissance UAVs and components for the heavier Orion UAVs. The Orion can carry a payload of up to 250 kg, making it a significant asset for conducting aerial operations.

The General Staff noted that this strike would reduce the enemy's UAV production capabilities, thereby hindering Russia's ability to conduct aerial assaults on civilian targets in Ukraine. An ammunition storage point was hit near the settlement of Trudove in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Also, logistics depots near Manhush, Topolyne, and Mariupol in Donetsk Oblast, as well as fuel storage tanks in Novopoltavka, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, were attacked. Ukrainian reports also mentioned damage to an oil refinery in Tuapse, Russia, where the AVT-12 primary oil refining unit and RVS-10000 storage tanks were damaged, resulting in a fire.

This operation aimed to disrupt the supply line and logistics supporting Russian military operations in Ukraine.
