The SSU's military counterintelligence force uncovered the Russian mole who was operating within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The perpetrator, reportedly a drone operator in a different brigade, was tasked with gathering intelligence on Biletskyi’s movements in the combat zone.

He was recruited by Russian special services via his ex-wife, who resides in the Russian-occupied region of Zaporizhzhia and cooperates with the enemy. The agent was caught early in his operations, coinciding with the SSU's proactive measures to secure vital information regarding the positions of Ukrainian military formations.
As part of the investigation, it was documented that the suspect aimed to pinpoint when and where Biletskyi would visit his troops. Utilizing official military access, he attempted to gather classified information from fellow servicemen.
Reports indicate that he not only sought to inform the Russians about his brigade's headquarters and training sites but also collected data on the accumulation of Ukrainian military resources in the Izium area. Details emerged about the mole's communication methods, which included using code words in Telegram conversations to relay sensitive information.
Investigators traced back his activities to February 2026, when he first began sharing coordinates of high-value locations, including those involved in the medical evacuation of personnel and where Ukrainian unmanned systems were deployed. His detailed reports also included the movements of senior military commanders, including Biletskyi himself.
The operation to apprehend the suspect culminated on March 11, when SSU agents secured his arrest within a garrison. A smartphone utilized to coordinate with Russian operatives was seized during the detention.
The man has been charged with high treason under martial law and is currently in custody. If convicted, he faces severe penalties, including life imprisonment and confiscation of property.
The case underscores the ongoing threat of espionage within Ukraine's military ranks as the nation continues to confront Russian aggression. Enhanced counterintelligence efforts remain critical for the protection of commanders and the integrity of military operations as the conflict persists.
