Repair operations are ongoing across Ukraine as the government aims to enhance the country's infrastructure. Prime Minister Svyrydenko noted that the significant milestone of over 1 million square meters repaired has been achieved ahead of schedule.
This achievement reflects the government's commitment to road maintenance and restoration in the wake of ongoing challenges. The Ministry of Community Development and Territories is set to ramp up efforts, with expectations to reach maximum daily output by the end of March.
The current schedule includes plans for major repair works on international highways to be completed by May 1 and all other major roads by June 1. Emphasis is placed on roads that facilitate logistics in frontline areas, as well as those supporting military, medical, and humanitarian transport activities.
The government has coordinated with the Ministry of Defense to begin repairs within a 30-kilometer zone from the front line. An additional budget of 1.5 billion UAH is earmarked for these repairs, with the list of prioritized roads already agreed upon with military officials.
This initiative aims to ensure that vital routes remain operational and safe for both civilian and military use. So far, the government has allocated 3 billion UAH from its reserve fund for road repairs, with a further 12.6 billion UAH planned in the 2026 state budget for road maintenance and continued rehabilitation efforts.
Svyrydenko also instructed the Ministry of Community Development to seek additional funding opportunities, possibly involving state guarantees and partnerships with international allies. Expert assessments suggest that at least 12-14 billion UAH is needed to cover repairs on both international and national roads.
When considering all roadways requiring attention, the total financial necessity could reach up to 50 billion UAH. Such investments are pivotal for reviving essential transport routes critical for economic and logistical purposes across Ukraine.
