Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiga has criticized the Hungarian government's delay in returning Ukrainian property, expressing his astonishment at the situation. He stated that Hungary's actions appear to be using the issue to influence its internal political landscape, specifically during its electoral campaign.

Sibiga reiterated that Ukraine will not accept any form of intimidation. He made these remarks while addressing journalists in Warsaw, reinforcing that the ongoing delays are unacceptable.
The controversy centers around the detention of seven Ukrainian cash courier employees, who were reportedly held by Hungarian authorities earlier this month while transporting money between Austria and Ukraine. According to reports, their vehicles were seized under accusations of money laundering, which Kyiv has deemed a flagrant violation of international law.
Sibiga has called the seizure an act of 'state racketeering' and denounced it as a form of state terrorism. As the situation unfolds, Sibiga demanded that Hungary adhere to international norms by promptly returning the confiscated funds and adhering to diplomatic protocols.
He noted that this marks a significant episode in Ukrainian-Hungarian relations, urging for a return to constructive and neighborly ties. The incident has heightened tensions between the two countries, prompting the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to issue travel warnings against visiting Hungary.
In response, Hungary's government confirmed the detention and announced plans to expel the couriers from its territory. Sibiga's statements reflect a broader concern within Ukraine about Hungary's handling of issues related to Ukrainian nationals and property.
As the diplomatic tussle continues, Kyiv remains resolute in its stance against what it perceives as political maneuvering by Budapest.
