The operation, conducted by the Internal Security Department of the SBU, led to the arrest of a former serviceman who allegedly organized the scheme, which involved 18 accomplices. Investigators found that the group established an organized structure, operating from multiple rented offices across Ukraine, equipped for the mass production of counterfeit documents.

The price for these fake IDs ranged between $3,000 and $5,000, depending on how quickly them were needed. According to investigators, clients' personal details were input into templates resembling genuine ID cards, and their photographs were inserted.

The finished fake IDs were either sent through postal services disguised as ordinary printing materials or were delivered directly during personal meetings. Many of the clients reportedly intended to use these cards to avoid military conscription amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers conducted searches of the suspects' residences and operational offices, seizing a variety of items including smartphones, computers, forged stamps, seals from government institutions, along with weapons. Approximately 100 fake IDs were recovered, which claimed to belong to the SBU and other military and law enforcement agencies.

Additional items taken included fictitious orders, certificates, and pro-Russian propaganda leaflets. The mastermind behind the operation has been charged under Article 114-1 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which concerns obstructing the lawful activities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and other military formations.

He has been taken into custody and could face a prison sentence of up to eight years. The investigation is ongoing, focusing on identifying and prosecuting all individuals involved in this illegal enterprise.
