The situation in southern Ukraine remains tense as Russian forces persist in their offensive operations, characterized by continuous shelling and troop reinforcements. Vladyslav Voloshin, a spokesperson for Ukraine's southern defense forces, reported that enemy activity remains exceptionally high along southern fronts, with over 30 combat encounters documented daily.
Despite this, Ukrainian defenders are achieving tactical successes on several fronts. On the Oleksandriivka direction, Ukrainian forces have launched counteroffensive actions that have resulted in the liberation of over 400 square kilometers of territory and several populated areas since the beginning of the operation.
Voloshin emphasized that operations are ongoing and Ukrainian units are maintaining pressure on the enemy. According to intelligence, Russian forces are not reducing the pace of their offensive and are reallocating additional troops and resources in preparation for further escalation.
In particular, units from the Pacific Fleet's 40th Separate Naval Infantry Brigade have been sent to the Huliaypole direction, along with forces from the 55th Naval Infantry Division. Voloshin indicated that the enemy may employ both small assault groups and mechanized attacks, stressing the growing threat posed by the increased use of drones.
He noted that the number of strike drones has risen significantly, escalating from approximately 300-350 a month ago to around 500 currently. The Russians are leveraging drones to target logistics and settlements near the frontline, aiming to disrupt Ukrainian supply lines and impact civilian areas.
The enemy's operational tactics also include using a new generation of tactical drones with enhanced capabilities. The operational zone of engagement has expanded to 20 kilometers, indicating an effort to maintain control over logistics and inflict damage on populated areas.
Furthermore, preparations are underway for the deployment of Russian multiple launch rocket systems, known as 'Sarma,' which are being trained at a site near Astrakhan before being moved to combat zones in southern Ukraine. These developments suggest an intensifying conflict, underscoring the ongoing volatility in the region and the complexity of military engagements.
