Ivan Tymochko, head of the Territorial Defense Council, reported that the combat statistics from this winter indicate that Russian forces are facing their highest loss rates per square meter of occupied territory. Despite their attempts, Russian troops have only managed minimal gains in land, resulting in significant casualties among personnel.

Ukrainian defenders have successfully targeted and destroyed extensive amounts of enemy artillery, often eliminating several dozen units each day. Tymochko noted that unfavorable weather conditions have hindered drone operations, leading to a greater reliance on enemy artillery for attack functions against Ukrainian positions.
The sustained destruction of Russian artillery capabilities has limited their ability to create the firepower walls that were a hallmark of their early invasion tactics. Over the past two months, Ukrainian forces have reported effective strikes against enemy artillery and air defense systems, indicating a shift in military engagement.
With several air defense systems lost, Tymochko explained that Russia is attempting to bolster its defenses closer to the frontline to protect its ground forces from Ukrainian drone strikes and missile attacks. This situation counters skepticism regarding Ukraine's military capabilities, as the loss of Russian artillery undermines their operational effectiveness.
It also underscores the ongoing strategic challenges faced by Russian military planners. Figures released previously indicated that Ukraine's air defenses managed to destroy over 30,000 aerial targets in February alone, reflecting the pressure that Russian forces are under.
As the conflict continues, the dynamics on the battlefield demonstrate the resilience and adaptability of Ukrainian defenses in the face of persistent aggression.
