Electricity Outage Schedules to Affect Industrial Consumers Only

Starting at 08:00 on March 9, parts of Ukraine will enforce hourly electricity outages exclusively for industrial users. This measure is a response to the repercussions of ongoing Russian missile and drone attacks on the country's energy infrastructure.

The state-owned power operator, Ukrenergo, announced the restrictions via its official social media channels, underlining that the situation within the energy system may continue to evolve. Ukrenergo highlighted that the outages would be in effect until the end of the day, with updates on the timing and intensity of power disconnects provided by regional energy distributors.

This decision comes after a series of aggressive assaults on energy facilities, which have significantly impacted electricity availability. Notably, on March 7, Russian forces carried out their fifth major attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure this year, further straining the system.

The power company emphasized the need for these measures to stabilize the energy grid amid ongoing security threats. The outages for industrial consumers are part of a broader strategy to manage the national energy supply effectively.

While industrial sectors bear the brunt of this measure, households are currently not affected, illustrating a prioritization strategy that aims to sustain essential services. Officials indicated that while these outages are necessary, monitoring will continue to respond dynamically to any changes in the situation.
