What Happened

On April 19, 2026, intense fighting erupted across various front lines in Ukraine, with the Russian military conducting 84 attacks against the positions of Ukraine's Defense Forces. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that most of the clashes were concentrated in the Pokrovsk direction.

Throughout the day, major hostilities were noted in several regions. In the Sumy region, the settlements of Korenok, Bachivsk, Ulanove, Malushyne, Prohres, and Tovstodubove experienced artillery shelling.

The Chernihiv region also reported attacks, particularly in Zaliznyi Mist. Russian troops launched aerial strikes in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk areas, firing four missiles and bombarding populated areas with 49 shellings, which included three attacks utilizing multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna direction, seven assaults targeted positions near Synelnykove, Prylipka, Starytsia, Vovchansk, and Bochkovе. Meanwhile, the Kupiansk area saw three failed attempts by Russian forces to improve their tactical positions near Kivsharivka and Radkivka, leaving one clash still actively ongoing.

The Ukrainian forces successfully repelled an invasion attempt in the Lyman direction, particularly around Hrekivka. In areas like Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, the enemy did not engage in significant operations.

In Kostiantynivka, 13 attacks were reported near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Illinivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Novopavlivka, and Sofiivka. Currently, two clashes are still ongoing there.

The Pokrovsk direction witnessed the most significant activity, with 32 attempts by Russian forces to displace Ukrainian troops from positions near Bilytske, Rodynske, Dorozhne, Pokrovsk, and Kotlyne. Two clashes remain in progress in this region.

Additionally, in the Oleksandrivka direction, two advances were noted near Oleksandrohrad and Sichneve. Ukraine's Defense Forces displayed resilience in the Huliaipole direction, repelling 16 attacks near Dobropillia, Zelene, Sviatopetrivka, Tsvitkove, Zaliznychne, Pryluky, and Olenokostiantynivka, as well as areas toward Verkhnia Tersa, Huliaipilske, and Hirke.

The enemy, however, conducted airstrikes in the vicinity of Vozdvyzhenka and other locations. In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops made attempts to advance near Pavlivka, reinforced by airstrikes near Vilnianka and Kushuhum.

In the Prydniprovske direction, two assault attempts were noted toward the Antonivskyi Bridge and near Bilogrudyi Island, both of which were unsuccessful. No significant changes or advancements by Russian forces were observed in other front-line areas.
