President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed concerns about Iran's involvement in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, asserting that the Iranian government has not only supplied drones but has also played a significant role in training Russian forces. According to Zelensky, Iran has actively taught Russian troops how to effectively carry out strikes using long-range drones, which have increasingly targeted Ukrainian infrastructure since the onset of the full-scale invasion by Russia.

During the press conference with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Zelensky highlighted the implications of such military cooperation between Iran and Russia. He described the partnership as a perilous development for Ukraine, particularly given that it has enabled Russia to launch numerous drone attacks in a single night, citing instances where between 350 to 500 drones have been deployed.

This level of aggression has caused immense destruction and critical shortages of electricity, water, and heating for civilians across Ukraine. Zelensky emphasized that following Iran's initial supplies of drones, there were promises to cease further deliveries.

However, he claimed that Iran has since escalated its support by issuing licenses and assisting in establishing two significant drone manufacturing facilities in Russia. This fortifies Russia's capacity to produce and employ these drones on a larger scale, exacerbating the situation on the ground.

In countering this threatening partnership, Zelensky noted Ukraine's efforts to lend its expertise on defense strategies to countries in the Middle East. He framed this assistance as essential in preparing these nations to defend against potential threats, contrasting it sharply with Iran's military support to Russia.

Zelensky’s comments are a stark reminder of the complex geopolitical relationships at play during the ongoing conflict. The president underscored his government's resolute stance against the Iranian regime, emphasizing that there can be no positive relations given their role in the conflict.

This sentiment reflects Ukraine's broader perspective on international alliances as it navigates the challenges posed by the ongoing aggression from Russia, supported by foreign military cooperation. Zelensky's statements serve also to raise awareness among the international community regarding the ramifications of military partnerships like that of Iran and Russia, urging a unified response to counter such threats effectively.
