During an interview with Politico, Zelensky stated that Orban's actions directly impede Ukraine's access to vital resources. He emphasized that the ongoing conflict is not between Ukraine and Hungary but rather between Europe and Hungary, specifically directed at Orban's obstructionist tactics.

Zelensky articulated that Hungary's stance has long been clear, as Orban has consistently blocked sanctions and military transit through Hungarian territory since the onset of the war. The Ukrainian president pointed out that Hungary has never provided military assistance to Ukraine, thereby aligning itself more with Moscow than with fellow European nations.
Zelensky condemned Orban's stance, suggesting it undermines the safety and security of both Ukraine and Europe. He remarked that while Orban refrains from direct attacks against Ukraine, his actions continue to hinder military and financial support critical for Ukraine's defense.
Zelensky also highlighted that the blockage of a significant €90 billion EU credit for Ukraine is a prime example of Orban's influence over EU discussions, which he described as creating strategic risks for European security. He reiterated that Hungary's leadership has demonstrated friendship with Russia, contrasting it sharply with Ukraine's dire needs and aspirations within the EU framework.
In a bid for dialogue, Zelensky mentioned inviting Orban and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to Ukraine to address the escalating tensions and foster more cooperative relations. This proposal indicates Ukraine's desire for diplomatic engagement despite the challenging dynamics with Hungary's leadership.
Zelensky's comments come in the context of the European Parliament's call for an urgent opening of negotiation clusters with Ukraine, warning Hungary against further obstructions that may destabilize the broader region.
