The Ukrainian scouting organization Pласт is set to host its first gatherings for children and teenagers in Nice and Cannes, as announced by the Franco-Ukrainian Association in Southern France (AFUCA). These meetings aim to introduce Ukrainian families to the principles of Pласт, the oldest scouting organization in Ukraine, which was founded in 1911.

The organization focuses on fostering leadership, responsibility, and a love for Ukraine among its youth. Scheduled for March 14 in Cannes and March 21 in Nice, the events will include separate sessions for children aged 7-11 and 12-17.

Participants can expect interactive presentations on the scouting methods, camping experiences, hiking, and survival training. Additionally, the sessions will provide information on how to join Pласт in France and become part of its volunteer community.

The Cannes meeting will take place at 2:00 PM at 9 Rue Louis Braille, within the premises of the 'Idées sans frontières' association. In Nice, the event is set for 2:00 PM at the AFUCA office located at 45 Route de Grenoble.

Organizers request that attendees in Nice register in advance using a specific form to ensure proper arrangements. Pласт has a history of empowering youth through various means, instilling values such as leadership and civic responsibility.

The launch of these meetings in France reflects the organization's efforts to adapt and serve Ukrainian expatriate communities. Recently, Pласт also marked a milestone by opening a dedicated center in Latvia, emphasizing its commitment to youth engagement amid global displacement.

AFUCA has highlighted the role of Pласт in providing a sense of belonging and community for Ukrainian youth resettled in France. These initiatives not only support youth development but also strengthen ties within the diaspora, promoting cultural continuity and integration.

As Ukrainian families adjust to life in a new country, such initiatives offer essential resources and connections to their cultural roots, fostering resilience and community cohesion.
