What Happened

As of May 25, 2026, Ukrainian agribusinesses have successfully accessed substantial funding through government grants. The Ministry of Economy reported that 20 enterprises have collectively received over ₴102 million for agricultural development projects. These grants specifically focus on enhancing initiatives such as orcharding, berry farming, grape cultivation, and greenhouse operations.

Key Details

The breakdown of the funding indicates that 12 enterprises attracted ₴56.5 million for expanding their work in horticulture and related sectors. Meanwhile, eight other businesses obtained ₴46 million to further develop greenhouse facilities.

According to Taras Vysotskyi, the Deputy Minister of Economy, these financial resources are instrumental in establishing new orchards, constructing modern greenhouses, implementing irrigation technologies, and generating jobs within local communities. The financial support remains crucial even amidst the ongoing conflict, illustrating the resilience and adaptability of Ukraine's agribusinesses.

The agrarian sector continues to invest in high-value production, which is vital for the country's overall food security.

Why It Matters

These grants play a significant role in sustaining agricultural productivity in Ukraine during a time of war. Enhanced horticulture and greenhouse farming can lead to increased food availability and economic stability in rural areas. The initiative also promotes job creation, further supporting community resilience.

Background

Since the introduction of the grant program, the Ukrainian government has disbursed a total of ₴1.69 billion in support to 361 agrarian enterprises. Notably, ₴1.18 billion of this amount was allocated for the development of horticulture for 258 businesses, with 241 receiving full funding.

In contrast, greenhouse operations accounted for ₴541.2 million, which was fully allocated to 102 enterprises. The Ministry of Economy reopened the application process for these grants on February 2, 2026.

The program is implemented according to government resolution No. 738, incorporating adaptations to meet the needs outlined by the Ukraine Facility program. In 2026, the maximum grant amount per project is set at ₴7 million, covering up to 70% of project costs.

For enterprises situated in liberated or frontline areas, funding can reach up to 80%. This approach aims to bolster agricultural development in regions most impacted by the conflict, supporting the nation's recovery and growth.
