Ukraine Accredits 85 Educational Centers for Ukrainians Abroad

The Ukrainian Ministry of Education has confirmed the accreditation of 85 Saturday and Sunday schools situated across 29 countries.

Minister Oksen Lisovyi announced this achievement through a Facebook post, highlighting its importance. The Ministry aims to ensure that the education provided by these foreign centers aligns with Ukrainian standards, facilitating official recognition of students' academic accomplishments.

Importance of Verification

Verifying these educational centers is vital for enabling Ukrainian students to continue their education without facing repeated testing or grade retention when they return to Ukraine. The accredited institutions offer a curriculum that includes a Ukrainized component, adhering to national educational requirements.

Teacher Recognition

This process also considers the teaching experiences of educators in these institutions, which influences their professional careers in Ukraine. As per a decision at the end of 2025, teaching hours from these foreign schools can be credited towards their pedagogical experience upon returning home.

Lisovyi noted that educators must document at least 180 teaching hours per year for this credit. He explained that the recognition of this experience affects salary calculations and eligibility for bonuses tied to seniority, as well as the assessment of teachers' qualification categories.

The verification initiative ensures that teachers' professional development is uninterrupted while abroad, allowing their experiences to be acknowledged by the state. A commission that includes representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs oversees the verification process.
