During a recent briefing, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi emphasized the need for reciprocal support from nations receiving assistance with air defense systems, specifically focusing on political backing, sanctions against Russia, and involvement in defense cooperation. He noted that 11 countries have approached Ukraine for help in intercepting missiles and drones, highlighting the critical nature of mutual assistance as Ukraine continues to confront ongoing threats.
Tykhyi stated that strengthening political support is crucial, underscoring the importance of allies openly backing Ukraine in international forums. He called on these nations to join Ukraine's sanctions policy targeting Russia and Iran, which has become an essential part of Ukraine's broader strategy to apply pressure on adversaries.
By calling for unified action against aggressor states, Ukraine aims to bolster collective international security. The spokesperson also pointed out the need to expand security cooperation practically.
As the conflict in Ukraine evolves, integrating air defense capabilities among allies is becoming increasingly vital. He noted that over 200 Ukrainian military experts are currently deployed in the Middle East and Persian Gulf, assisting in the defense against Shahed drones.
This deployment underscores Ukraine's commitment to international collaboration in addressing shared threats. Additionally, Tykhyi mentioned the fourth area of focus: the participation of Middle Eastern countries in Ukraine's reconstruction efforts.
As the war continues to devastate civilian infrastructure, Kyiv is seeking investments and support from its partners to facilitate rebuilding efforts, which will be crucial for restoring stability in the region. By advocating for these mutual benefits, Ukraine is not only reinforcing its defense posture but also setting the stage for deeper ties with nations in the Middle East.
This approach aligns with President Volodymyr Zelensky's vision of fostering a network of partnerships that enhance collective security in the face of ongoing challenges.
