Ukraine Restores 711 MW of Generation Capacity in April

In April, Ukraine achieved a restoration of 711 megawatts (MW) of electricity generation capacity. This information was confirmed by First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal following a meeting of the energy management team. A significant plan is in place to supply 62 powerful transformers supported by Japan’s JICA, with an additional 11 units provided by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The Minister highlighted that the Energy Support Fund has successfully attracted €75.7 million since March, a crucial financial lifeline for ongoing recovery efforts.

Despite these advancements, Shmyhal acknowledged that Ukraine's energy system requires an additional 6.5 gigawatts of power capacity to meet current demands effectively.
