The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on March 21, 2026, that Russian military activity intensified significantly, resulting in 161 combat encounters. Predominantly, the attacks affected the Pokrovsk, Kostyantynivka, and Hulyaipole areas.
During this period, Russian forces conducted 82 airstrikes, dropping 263 guided bombs, and unleashed a barrage of drone attacks and artillery fire across numerous Ukrainian positions. Key areas targeted included settlements such as Esman, Pokrovske, Krynichne, and several locations in Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
The report highlighted that Ukrainian forces retaliated effectively, striking seven troop concentration areas and two drone command points with their own artillery and missile units. On the Northern-Slobozhansk and Kursk fronts, Ukrainian defenses repelled seven assaults, further underlining the volatile situation.
In the southern part of the Slobozhanskyi front, Russian troops launched multiple assaults, specifically near the towns of Vovchanski Khutory, Vovchansk, and others. Additionally, the Russians attacked on the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts, aiming to breach Ukrainian defenses.
The Kramatorsk front saw no offensive actions from the enemy, though attacks in the Kostyantynivka direction were particularly fierce, with 22 strikes recorded. Ukrainian defenders engaged successfully in halting 32 aggressive moves from the enemy in various towns including Rodynske and Myrnograd.
The ongoing battle for control remains fierce, with both sides suffering significant losses. General staff reports reveal that overall combat losses for Russian military personnel since February 24, 2022, have approached 1,286,940, with approximately 1,240 losses reported in just the previous day.
Despite the continuous engagements, no indicators of Russian troop buildup have been detected along the Volyn and Polissya fronts.
