The Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade (ICIT) has decided to take action to shield the domestic market from unfair import practices. Recently, the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture confirmed the start of the investigation into Turkish steel products.

This step reflects Ukraine's commitment to enforcing fair trade practices in response to concerns about potentially detrimental pricing strategies from foreign suppliers. Additionally, the investigation encompasses welded equipment from China, indicating a broader strategy to regulate steel-related imports.

Currently, Ukraine is extending protective measures on other imports such as aerated concrete blocks from Belarus and certain black metal products from China. This comprehensive approach illustrates the government's determination to maintain a level playing field for local producers amid global market dynamics.

According to a statement by Deputy Minister Vitaliy Kindrativ, anti-dumping investigations are essential for addressing instances of unfair competition. The ministry has highlighted that imports priced artificially low can pose risks to domestic producers, thereby prompting the need for protective trade instruments.

The decisions made in this context are underpinned by detailed economic analyses consistent with international trade rules. As of early March 2026, the Ministry of Economy is actively applying 29 protective trade measures as a safeguard for domestic industries.

Each recommendation for imposing duties is based on four legal facts: the presence of dumping, significant harm to domestic producers, a causal link between the two, and consideration of national interests. This structured approach aims to protect jobs and enhance the economic stability of the nation.

The ministry also reminded stakeholders that protecting the internal market is crucial for ensuring the sustainability of domestic manufacturers and the overall economic health of Ukraine. By strictly adhering to WTO procedures, the Ministry seeks to provide predictability for investors while securing Ukraine’s industrial safety.
