During his visit, Vavryniuk met with unit commanders to discuss current tactical challenges along the border where Russian forces are attempting to expand their control. The commanders reported that following significant losses, Russian units are regrouping and continue to execute aerial reconnaissance missions.
They are also making repeated attempts to attack positions held by Ukrainian forces, looking for vulnerabilities to exploit. In response, border guard units are actively engaging the enemy using available artillery and drones, coordinating with other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces to deliver effective fire strikes on Russian positions near the border.
Vavryniuk emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing, noting that timely information dispatched to military command authorities has enabled quick responses to enemy actions. This cooperation has succeeded in inflicting losses on Russian forces and preventing them from strengthening their positions.
He commended the dedication of the personnel involved in the defense efforts, specifically praising the 5th and 15th Border Guard Detachments. As part of his visit, Vavryniuk presented state and departmental awards to service members for their bravery and effective performance in safeguarding the state border.
Additionally, he held discussions with the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration and leaders from military command to review and strategize on the security situation in the region. These talks addressed cooperation between local authorities and military forces, focusing on enhancing capabilities to preempt Russian advances.
The significance of Vavryniuk's visit lies in the continued reinforcement of border security amid ongoing tensions. With President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent changes in leadership of the State Border Guard Service, Vavryniuk's active engagement and support for frontline units signal the Ukrainian government’s commitment to fortifying its defenses in this critical region.
As Russian forces intensify their tactics, the resilience and readiness of Ukrainian border guards remain pivotal in countering aggression and maintaining territorial integrity.
