Overview

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has announced that military personnel released from captivity will receive a one-time payment of 100,000 UAH. They will also receive annual compensation for each year spent in captivity, along with 90 days of paid leave. This announcement was made by Ukrinform.
Application Process
Eligible individuals can apply for the one-time payment after their captivity status is verified. Applications can be submitted to the Ministry of Development through its official website or the National Information Bureau.
Medical Support
Released personnel are entitled to comprehensive medical benefits. This includes health checks, laboratory tests, specialist consultations, and medical evaluations. They will also have access to ongoing treatment guidance, social services, potential treatment abroad, and legal assistance.
Additional Benefits
Upon release, military personnel will automatically be granted combatant status through the Unified State Register of War Veterans. This status pertains to those captured, with injuries or illnesses sustained during captivity classified as combat-related.
Additional benefits include priority housing assistance, retraining vouchers, job protection, credit holidays, and educational support. Released service members will receive an uninterrupted 90-day leave, during which they continue to receive their salary. Any changes to this leave must be mutually agreed upon with the service member.
Starting in May 2024, individuals released from captivity may voluntarily exit military service and can defer mobilization through local administrative services.
Since February of last year, military personnel have been allowed to designate beneficiaries for their financial support in case of captivity or disappearance. These measures are designed to ensure former captives receive essential aid for reintegration into society.
