The incident occurred near the village of Dmytrivka, where a Russian FPV drone struck the ambulance, injuring both the driver, a 57-year-old man, and a 34-year-old female paramedic. Following the attack, both were hospitalized, but officials reported their conditions as stable and satisfactory.

Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, detailed the attack on Telegram, stating that the enemy had launched multiple drone strikes against local communities, including Ochakiv and Kutsurub, throughout the day. Drone warfare has increasingly targeted both military and civilian assets since the escalation of conflict in Ukraine, making medical facilities particularly vulnerable as they often operate in contested areas.
Previous incidents in the Mykolaiv region reflect a troubling trend of hostilities impacting humanitarian operations. Over the last day, five combat UAVs, identified as Shahed 131/136 drones, were reportedly downed or jammed, illustrating ongoing aerial threats.
This attack follows another recent drone strike in which a Russian drone hit an unoccupied train preparing for maintenance, causing minor injuries to one individual. Such repeated assaults on essential services are indicative of the broader challenges facing Ukraine’s infrastructure and emergency response capabilities amidst the war.
Authorities emphasized the importance of protecting medical personnel, who are crucial for treating the wounded in any conflict. The Mykolaiv region, located near the front lines, continues to experience heightened military activity, necessitating constant vigilance from local officials and emergency services.
The overall security environment remains precarious, complicating efforts to provide necessary medical care in the region. The ongoing situation demands international attention and support for both the protection of humanitarian workers and the broader implications of drone warfare in civilian areas as the conflict unfolds.
