What Happened

On May 4, 2026, Ukraine's General Staff of the Armed Forces reported a significant escalation in fighting with a total of 149 combat clashes recorded between Ukrainian and Russian forces. This uptick in conflict was marked by notable intensity in regions such as Huliaipole and Pokrovsk.

Key Details

According to the report, the Russian military conducted a missile strike using one missile alongside 75 airstrikes that involved 273 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, an extensive deployment of 9,649 kamikaze drones was recorded, with Russian forces launching 3,572 shelling attacks.

The fighting has resulted in substantial expenditures of munitions, with 33 of these attacks originating from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). Russian airstrikes targeted various locations, including areas near Velyka Pysarivka and Vilna Sloboda in the Sumy region, as well as multiple spots in the Zaporizhzhia region including Tsvitkove and Verkhnia Tersa.

Despite the onslaught, Ukraine's Air Force and artillery forces managed to inflict damage on the enemy by hitting three command posts, among other targets related to troop concentrations and artillery systems. In terms of fire exchanges, the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk areas recorded five clashes.

Here, Russian forces executed 80 shelling attacks, including five with MLRS. Notably, the Southern Slobozhanshchyna direction experienced four assaults, with Ukrainian defenders successfully repelling one attack near Radkivka in the Kupiansk direction.
